Uffie (born Anna-Catherine Hartley on December 9, 1987) is an American-born, Hong Kong-raised, Paris-based electro artist, vocalist, rapper, entertainer, producer and songwriter currently signed by French music label Ed Banger Records and Elektra. She has been described as a muse for French DJs and delivers her lyrics in an 'anti-flow' delivery, incorporates the genres of synthpop, electronica, hip hop, rap and dance into her music, often works with her fellow label-mates, Feadz and Mr. Oizo, as well as producer Mirwais. She is perhaps best known for her singles "Pop the Glock", "First Love", "ADD SUV (feat. Pharell Williams)" and "MC's Can Kiss" as well as her collaboration with labelmates Justice on the single "Tthhee Ppaarrttyy." Her recent live performances have been compared to other artists in the Andy Warhol art movement. Her long awaited debut album, Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans will be released through Ed Banger Records and Elektra Records on May 31, 2010 and June 8, 2010 in the US.

The winner of four ARIA awards (think Australian Grammy) for her 2004 debut, Aussie singer/songwriter Sarah Blasko brings a provocative angle to her third album As Day Follows Night, a summer 2009 release Down Under which is finally seeing light of day stateside August 10. The project began as Blasko began searching for a fresh approach to her elegant, left-of-center pop songs. Leaving the summery surroundings of Sydney behind, she collaborated with Swedish indie-darling and producer Bjorn Yttling (of Peter, Bjorn and John) in a snowbound Stockholm studio. Blasko arrived nursing an emotional break-up at home, an impetus, perhaps, to embrace Yttling's incrementally eccentric musical stylings.

The result is a distinctive album that expands Blasko's usual comfort range -- guitar, piano, voice basics -- with an array of unexpected sonic flourishes, most notably some brittle, occasionally lockstep percussive backing that give the project a cool, almost icy facade. Fortunately, Blasko's warm, slightly airy vocals balance the more dramatic effects, bringing songs like the reverb-heavy, sweetly moody "Is My Baby Yours" and dramatic, spaghetti-western jangle of "All I Want" a welcome personal stamp. Where some albums might be weighted down by the production accessories, As Day Follows Night maintains a light touch -- the result, no doubt, of a confident artist who welcomes the challenge of creating something decidedly different. Recommended.

It’s been a while since the Wonder Girls released a new song after Nobody in 2008, so of course when they finally announced their new song 2 Different Tears, all Wonderfuls and neutrals were hyped to see what the hit-making Wonder Girls would put out this time.

A lot has happened since they made America as their headquarters and so on. But the biggest change was Sunmi leaving and Hye Lim coming in as a replacement earlier this year. It was a shock but life has to go on.

Having heard the teaser and seen the pictures, it was great to see the MV as they really rock it with their retro funky concept and you have to say no one does retro like them. The funny cameos by Bobby Lee and JYP further increases the replayability. I was worried that they would fall short of expectations because of the long gap, but the Wonder Girls and JYP really released a gem of a song again!

Allison Moorer mixed things up a bit on her February album Crows, moving away from her alt-country and Americana-influenced folk to a more sophisticated and dynamic pop edge. But what didn't change is Moorer's way around a great melody -- something that comes into more distinct and up-close focus on her new solo Crows Acoustic EP, arriving digitally May 25. Stripping away the studio backing of six tracks that originally appeared on Crows, Moorer gives each song a more private and personal reading with the help of producer Jason Finkel. The new EP also comes just in time for the beginning of Moorer's summer concert tour and just weeks after giving birth to her first child with alt-country pioneer Steve Earle in early April.

Speaking of birth, Moorer says of the new EP: “I always like to give people an opportunity to hear a song in the form it was born in. And sometimes with a twist. That’s what this recording is about.” Songs include a haunting version of "Sorrow Don't Come Around" a track we called "a magnificent ballad written at the time that she found that she was pregnant -- and seven months after an earlier miscarriage.
